Seeding the Vision

  1. What is the main objective and purpose of the website? Are there other, secondary objectives?
  2. What are some of the larger functions of the site (e.g., e-commerce, internal company knowledge-base, catalog database, online brochure, document administration, etc.)?
  3. In your vision, what result will a successful web site have on your business? How does website contribute to this goal?
  4. How do you see your business working with the web site on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis?

Design

  1. List adjectives that describe feel visitors get from your website (e.g., stabile, relaxed, direct).
  2. Does your company have existing marketing materials with the design style that should be reflected in your new web site? Will Scope 3 Design help develop a color palette and "look" for your site?
  3. If you have existing materials, what is working there and what is not. How will Scope 3 Design help?
  4. Who will provide the site's content (text, photography, etc.)? How will Scope 3 Design help your company with content?
  5. Please list web sites that you like, what do you like about them (e.g., design, ease of use, quantity of information, "freshness").

Development

  1. What domain name(s) are registered for this web site, if any? List any other domain names that might be useful in accessing the site.
  2. Do you currently have a hosting account for your web site, or do you host the site on your own server?
  3. How many pages do you envision your site having? Are the number of pages irrelevant? Why?
  4. Is a database an integral part of your web site (databases are typically used for a large catalog or news sites with more than 50 pages of content, or for sites with information that must be updated frequently.)
  5. What multimedia content (video, sound clips) will be delivered through your web site.
  6. How do you see your business needing to update your site on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis? No need to update?
  7. Will customers be able to make a purchase online from the site? Explain.

Parameters

  1. Do you have an approximate dollar figure in mind for this project? What is the budget?
  2. Realistically, what sort of timeline do you have in mind for the completion of this web site?
  3. Are there any other factors that you feel should be kept in mind when planning or developing this web site?
